Earlier this week, rapper and TV entertainer, T.I., told a podcast that he makes his daughter attend annual gynecological visits to assure that her hymen is still intact.
The podcast, hosted by “Ladies Like Us,” has since been deleted. However, during the podcast, T.I. explained that he takes his daughter to the gynecologist once a year, after her birthday.
He said, “Right after her birthday, we celebrate, then usually like the day after the party, she’s enjoying the gifts, I put a sticky note on the door: ‘Tomorrow. 9:30.”
What is most disturbing, is that T.I. does not take his daughter to the gynecologist to check on her health, but to ensure that his daughter has remained a virgin.
“I say, ‘Look doc — she don’t ride no horses, she don’t ride no bikes, she don’t play no sports, man — just check the hymen, please, and give me back my results expeditiously. I will say, as of her 18th birthday, her hymen is still intact,” explained T.I. about their visits.
News stations, celebrities and fans shares their outrage at this outdated and harmful practice of “checking girls virginity.” Many are even claiming that T.I. is violating his daughter’s human rights.
Since the podcast was released, T.I. has given no response or explanation for his actions.
