Music lovers everywhere were flooded with a stream of new sounds today. From hard-hitting hip hop to dreamy pop, there’s something for everyone to listen to today.
The highly-anticipated Funeral album from Lil Wayne released today. The album includes features from Big Sean, Adam Levine, 2 Chainz, Takeoff, O.T. Genesis, the late XXXTENTACION, and more.
Key Glock released Yellow Tape today complete with classic Memphis rap flows, dark and trippy undertones, and no features. Yo Gotti dropped Untrapped today with a supreme catalog of features from Megan Thee Stallion, Estelle, Lil Uzi Vert, Lil Baby, and Blac Youngsta, only to name a few. Hip hop fans are sure to receive everything they’ve been waiting for in a project today.
R&B received a few new projects today from Luke James and K. Michelle. K. Michelle is known for her appearances on Love and Hip Hop: Atlanta, but the TV star is more than musically inclined. She released All Monsters Are Human today with features from Kash Doll and City Girls. Luke James, also known for his TV roles in Insecure and The New Edition Story, released a 9 song album today called To Feel Love/D including collaborations with Ro James, Big K.R.I.T, BJ the Chicago Kid, and Samoht.
Pop artists also claimed their place in the January 31st music flood with albums from Ke$ha, Ryan Beatty, Meghan Trainor, and Louis Tomlinson. Kesha has not released music since her 2017 Rainbow album, so her release of High Road today is definitely a treat. The album has 16 tracks, a feature from Big Freedia, and a taste of the classic Ke$ha sound we grew up listening to on “Kinky.” Ryan Beatty is known for his sweet voice and dreamy lyrics, and he did not disappoint with his release of Dreaming of David.
Meghan Trainor released Treat Myself today, giving us the sounds that we know and love her for with poppy tracks like “Nice To Meet Ya” featuring Nicki Minaj and catchy love songs like “After You.” Former One Direction superstar, Louis Tomlinson, released Walls, a project that leans into authentic self-expression after separating himself from the all-encompassing aura of the world’s favorite boy band.
Overall, today seems to be a good day for music. Take the time to listen to each album and explore artists that you might not listen to regularly.
